SUPER BOWL CHEESE BALL TRAY
It’s Super Bowl championship week!! If you didn’t already know… I love watching football and always get excited to watch the big game. I am now a huge New Orleans Saints fan, but I will watch any game. I grew up in a football house watching high school, college and obviously national football (basically if it was football, it was on). Growing up my parents threw a super bowl party every year and it was always such a fun time. We would have loads of food and drinks and the house was filled with laughter.
Even if you aren’t into the game, there are the commercials and the FOOD! We usually stick to the same dips and cheese trays but this year I wanted to do something a little different. Not only did I want to do something a little different, I really wanted to have a football theme… so I came up with a football cheeseball. I found a very tasty classic cheese ball recipe and test tried it for the AFC and NFC Championship games and it was a major score with my family. I wanted to share it with you all in hopes you could try it with your super bowl crew!!!
Since I am pretty much a recipe follower rather than a recipe creator, I followed the recipe for a classic cheeseball from Tastes Better From Scratch blog. I followed the recipe and instead of forming the cheeseball into a ball, I simply formed it into a football shape prior to adding the chopped pecans. If you have your own personal cheeseball recipe you can definitely use that!
I cut and used Swiss cheese for laces (just for decorative purposes). I then added Townhouse crackers and pretzels and we also had boneless wings with some veggies on the side! It was such an easy way have a little extra fun and festiveness!!!
I am so looking for to the game, and I hope you are as well! Here’s to some funny commercials, a fun time & the Chiefs!!!!
